In 1982, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation stating May 6th, 1982 was National Recognition Day for nurses. This came nearly 30 years after Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare had tried to establish a day of observance. One day has since turned into a week (May 6th – 12th). Countless others have contributed, including the American Nurses Association (ANA). They’ve been protecting and promoting nurses since 1896. With 2020 being designated The Year of the Nurse and Midwife by the World Health Organization, let’s continue to show our love and appreciation in 2021. And drinkware is the perfect catalyst for this message.
